Important Info

Pricing

Our regular price is $1200 per day plus fuel. As shown below, this price includes everything: tackle, bait, ice, drinks, and basic fish cleaning. Even in Venice, most guides charge $.35 per pound to clean fish. I don’t think people realize how much money the free fish cleaning saves them. Full overnighters cost $2300 plus fuel. We also offer a “half-nighter” for $1200 plus fuel. These trips leave the dock in the early afternoon and return around midnight. If you’re looking to try some Venice swordfishing, but don’t want to cough up over $2500, this is the best deal around. Tips are generally 10-20%.

Fuel Cost

The pump price here at Cypress Cove is up to $4.10/gal. Our fuel bills this first week of May have been roughly $300-$450 for tuna trips and $180-$300 for bottom trips. I feel plenty pressure to keep the fuel bills reasonable and I’ll let you know if I think our next move will drastically affect the bill.

Deposit

A 50% deposit is required to book a trip. We accept cash, check, and credit cards. Deposits are kept for trips cancelled within two weeks of the date booked.

Accommodations

The best bet for accommodations right now in Venice is Cypress Cove Marina. Call (985) 534-7777 or (985) 534-7774 to make reservations at the hotel.  There are a couple fast food places open now in Venice, but most close early and open sporadically, so you’re probably best off eating in or before Belle Chasse or bringing your own dinner. There are some BBQ pits available underneath the hotel.

Licenses

You can either buy your fishing license from the LDWF at (888) 765-2602 or online at https://www3.wildlifelicense.com/la/start.php, or stop at any of the convenience stores along HWY 23 on your way to the marina prior to fishing. The license is just $5 if you’re fishing with a guide. For US citizens, a drivers’ license number is all you’ll need. If you’re not a US citizen, either a passport number or international drivers’ license is required by the state. You must mention your guide’s LDWF#. Capt. Brett’s is 086-967-6379.

Weather

We want to take you fishing, but we also want to reasonable about the conditions we take you fishing in. Typically, the trip will be cancelled if the forecast is for seas of 3-5 feet or higher, which typically correspond to sustained winds of 15-20 knots and higher.
