Inga and Cindy hoist up a nice 70# yellowfin. Cindy claimed that she had never gone fishing before, but after she caught all our live baits, them caught her limit of 60-70# yellowfin, and then caught a monster mangrove I became very suspicious of her story.
Damain Kerek and his crew from Summit Electric brough home an awesome mixed bag, including a 108# yellowfin and a 22# red snapper. Like I told them, the way this summer has been, anuone can catch a bunch of tunas. But it takes skill to pull out a nice mixed bag catch in the late summer. Fortunately for me, they brought the skill with them. Great catch, guys.
The boys from Panama City have had some great luck with the tunas this year. This time it was Doug Williams and crew who brough the tuna steaks and some scamp grouper back home to PC. I also had to cough up another free t-shirt for a solo catch on a tuna over 100#.
Casey and her crew from Houston got exactly what they asked for: a real tunafish butt-kicking. After Casey caught her first tuna, she yelled out “See, I told you I could do it!” leading me to believe there had been some serious trash-talking prior to the trip. The storms were so bad inshore that we had to run a little farther than I have been to get out of them, but we found the fish nonetheless. What a red-hot bite: I don’t think we had baits in the water for more than 10 minutes total. We caught 8 and left them biting. Thanks, Casey, for putting together a great trip.
Doug caught this 86# yellowfin on a Yozuri popper. The top-water action has been good the past two weeks, with plenty surface action that should steadily improve into the fall.
